Crystar® Igniters
Saint-Gobain's CRYSTAR® igniters are made from recrystallized silicon carbide, a proprietary advanced ceramic material that combines physical and thermal strength with stable electrical properties. The igniters deliver reliable ignition within 17-60 seconds, depending upon the model.
In 1975, Saint-Gobain developed the CRYSTAR® igniter as an alternative to standing gas pilots and spark systems for gas clothes dryers and gas ovens. Starting in 1979, the heating market also took advantage of the benefits of hot surface ignition in their gas-fired furnaces and boilers.
Saint-Gobain's CRYSTAR® 120-volt model is recognized as the industry standard for gas-fired applications. The development and acceptance of 120-volt hot surface igniters in heating, range, and dryer applications set the stage for the increased popularity of hot surface ignition today.
Mini™ Igniters
In 1988, Saint-Gobain introduced its MINI-IGNITER, a unique, non-porous, high strength proprietary material available in 12, 24, 120 and 208-240 volt models. Saint-Gobain's development of this MINI-IGNITER opened doors into other new markets.
The MINI-IGNITER can be used wherever fast heat up time is required. Due to its high impact strength, the MINI-IGNITER is also becoming a popular alternative in the gas fired heating market. All Saint-Gobain igniters are engineered for easy handling, simple installation and trouble-free operation.
Facilities
Saint-Gobain Igniter Products operates two manufacturing facilities and a warehouse in the United States which are located in Milford, NH as well as an assembly facility in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
All of these operations are ISO9001:2008 Certified.
In addition Saint-Gobain has Sales Operations and Sales Representatives throughout the world.
Partnerships
Ongoing partnerships with all control manufacturers insure that Saint-Gobain igniters are designed to complement state-of-the-art control systems.
Research and Development
Located in Northboro, MA, Saint-Gobain's R&D process insures that critical ceramic igniter technologies are quickly brought to the marketplace. As the needs of the worldwide appliance and heating products market become more complex, Saint-Gobain's R&D will continue to develop hot surface igniters to meet these market needs.
