Mini-Igniters: a Ceramic Infra Red Source (CIRS) for Laboratory analytical equipments
Infrared Source

The Mini-CIRS device is made of a pattented ceramic composite that generates a strong emission of IR light covering the 1.6 - 4.5 micro meter spectral region. The device can withstand conitnuous operation of several thousand hours under prescribed conditions due to its extraordinary cemical stability at elevated temperatures.

They can run on low voltage (12 volts or 24 volts, AC or DC) and provide a constant supply of photon emmitence. This has proven to be effective and beneficial in developing new analytical tools.

Their compact size make Saint-Gobain Mini Igniters easy to place in difficult to access locations. All Mini CIRS devices reach full emission capacity within a few seconds using standard voltages. Power requirements for 12V and 24V are low using 30W and 40W respectively. The leads are designed to withstand working conditions of 200°C, 250°C, and 450°C. The CIRS is potted into a ceramic housing for practical purposes and for protection against current leakage.
